Why Diets Fail Every Time
If you’re anything like me, you’ve no doubt tried pretty much every diet out there but with little or no success. What is it with diets that simply don’t work? A lot of people still believe the myth that dieting by eating less will help with weight loss. What really happens is when we eat a lot less than we need we are more likely to remain the same or even gain weight. We are designed to interpret restricted food consumption with starvation. By regularly cutting down what we eat we trigger our body’s starvation preservation mode.
Research tells us that people who are able to maintain a healthy weight normally eat a diet that have plenty of complex carbohydrates (such as vegetables, cereals etc) and most people who are overweight usually have diets that have a lot more fat and simple carbs. Understanding what studies tell us about what contributes to weight loss is important when designing a weight loss plan. One of the best ways to lose weight fast is to observe a low GI diet where you’re very careful about the simple carbs you eat each day, but are not too concerned about the other foods. Don’t see this as an excuse to overeat, as you still need to watch quantities, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and ensuring you get a good combination of healthy nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.
The weight gain is largely a factor of lifestyle and eating habits and the weight gradually crept up over time rather than overnight. As it took so long for the weight to creep up, it’s likely to take some time to get back to your healthy weight as well. People who don’t understand the balance between watching what you eat, ensuring you get plenty of water, physical exercises and making sure they get enough sleep are the next customers to the marketing companies pushing the new fad diet, diet pill or quick weight loss tips. You can find these fad diets, pills and programs in every media including TV, radio, magazines, books, and the Internet. Because we’ve been brought up to want and expect everything delivered to us yesterday, it’s very easy to believe that there indeed magic weight loss pills to take the weight off very quickly, than to accept that we have the capability to re-structure our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight is the thing of the past.
Diets simply don’t work because they do not teach you to build a balance within your body. Diets simply don’t work because they are designed towards making someone or some company wealthy instead of making a diet plan or program that will actually assist an individual to lose weight.
It is a known fact that individuals who are obese are more likely to succumb to illnesses and other life threatening health issues due to excessive body weight. Saturated fat consumption is a major contributor to unnecessary body fat.
